Good poem ^^ I can relate, I have witnessed a stranger's funeral. And I mean, a proper stranger. We got told the wrong time to arrive at the crematorium. It was awful. Everyone stared. Have you ever been in that scenario? <3
Actually, this is a coincidence reading this comment today! Earlier today I learned that in Victorian Britain, it was believed that rain at a funeral signified that the soul of the recently deceased would travel to heaven!
This is very interesting and different from any piece I have read. I like the second stanza, it's true that when you didn't know someone you don't feel the pain when they pass away; but I think that can be a good thing because in that way one can support those who are feeling the pain, I think this is the idea of community; to help those who are in need of it...it is ashame that this idea is dying out.
This how I felt when my step family lost a member of their family. I only met him once before he passed, he taught me how to shuck corn when I about six. Not much of a memory to really miss him, and I felt like a stand out and his funeral. (Sliding a bit off the topic - I like this poem, despite what's brought to mind it's still nice to relate to a poem).
